Laparoscopic surgery

"Get Back to Life Faster with Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery."

Reduces the need for large open incisions, resulting in less pain, faster recovery, and minimal scarring for patients.

"Laparoscopy surgery is an operation performed in the abdomen or pelvis using small incisions with the aid of a camera. The laparoscope aids diagnosis or therapeutic interventions with a few small cuts in the abdomen."

Laparoscopic surgery

Laparoscopic surgery involves smaller incisions, which leads to less tissue damage, reduced blood loss, and a significantly lower risk of infection. This results in a faster recovery time, less postoperative pain, and smaller scars compared to traditional open surgery, allowing patients to return to their normal activities much sooner.

Who needs a laparoscope surgery?

Laparoscopic surgery is suitable for patients who require surgical intervention for various conditions but prefer or need a less invasive approach. Common candidates for laparoscopic surgery include:

  • Gallbladder issues: Patients with gallstones or gallbladder disease may undergo laparoscopic cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal).

  • Hernias: Laparoscopy is used to repair inguinal, umbilical, or ventral hernias.

  • Gynecological conditions: Women with conditions like endometriosis, fibroids, or ovarian cysts may benefit from laparoscopic procedures.

  • Obesity: Bariatric surgery, such as gastric bypass or sleeve gastrectomy, can be performed laparoscopically.

  • Colon and intestinal disorders: Conditions like colorectal cancer, diverticulitis, or inflammatory bowel disease may require laparoscopic resections.

  • Appendicitis: Laparoscopic appendectomy is commonly used for appendicitis, offering faster recovery.

  • Kidney or adrenal gland issues: Laparoscopic nephrectomy or adrenalectomy is used for certain kidney or adrenal conditions.

Laparoscopic surgery is recommended for patients who require surgery for these or other conditions and are suitable candidates for minimally invasive techniques. The decision is made based on the patient's health, the type of surgery needed, and the surgeon's expertise.
Laparoscopic Surgery Complications
  • Infection – Infection at the incision sites or internally is a possible risk after surgery, though it is less common with laparoscopic procedures.
  • Bleeding – There may be bleeding during or after surgery, especially if blood vessels are accidentally damaged.
  • Injury to Surrounding Organs – Although rare, surrounding organs such as the bowel, bladder, blood vessels, or major nerves may be accidentally injured during the procedure.
  • Blood Clots – As with any surgery, there is a risk of developing blood clots (deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism), especially if mobility is limited post-surgery.
  • Hernia at Incision Site – Occasionally, a hernia may form at the site of one of the small incisions used during the procedure.
  • Due to general anesthesia and limited movement post-surgery, some patients may develop pneumonia or other respiratory complications.
  • In some cases, wound healing may be slower than expected, or scars may be more pronounced.
